Webinar: Global Surgery- Why I Want To Be Part Of It

December 7, 2021 By Megan Harris

Dr. Bernhard Widmann presents: “Global Surgery- Why I Want To Be Part Of It.”

Dr. Bernhard Widmann

Bernhard Widmann was born in Austria where he completed his medical studies in 2010. He is currently working as a consultant for general surgery at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen in Switzerland. The experiences and contacts made during a 4-week short-term mission trip to Kijabe Hospital in Kenya in 2020 were crucial in his decision to further invest in global surgery. In 2022, he and his wife Lydia, an intensive care nurse, will move to Nkhoma Hospital in Malawi, where he will be part of the surgical faculty at this new site of PAACS (Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons). Lydia will help in starting up the ICU by training ICU nurses. For both of them, this shared childhood dream is becoming reality.
