Recorded June 21, 2017 — For his safety, our speaker presents under the pseudonym “Dr. Joel Jackson,” MD, MPH, and discusses “Trauma Surgery in a War-Torn Context: Experiences from a Tent Hospital”.
“Dr. Jackson” is a trauma surgeon in the United States. He received his training at New York University, Columbia University, and Emory University. He has served with Samaritan’s Purse World Medical Mission across several hospitals in Africa, and recently served at the Emergency Field Hospital just outside of Mosul, Iraq. Since then, “Dr. Jackson” has returned to ongoing work in countries hostile to the Gospel.

It is especially difficult to find a doctor who will treat children after the civil war in Syria. A group of doctors from Macedonia started volunteering in Syria. But that’s not enough because bombs explode every day, houses are being demolished. Everyone has to help these innocent people with the alliance. We had the opportunity to meet the makedon doctors. I translated the speech into Macedonian. They said it was the best task at all. Because those people really need it.
